Error installing .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2

When you try to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2, you may run into the following error message:

"Do you need to specify an alternate source path? One or more installation selections are missing source files on the destinati..."

To resolve this, follow the steps below:

1) Insert or mount the Microsoft Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2 Installation media or ISO to CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive on the server.

2) In the "Confirm installation selections" window, click on "Specify an alternate source path"

3) Enter "D:\sources\sxs" as the source Path. Replace "D" with the letter of your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.

4) Click "OK" to continue.

5) The installation should complete successfully now.

6) Upon completion, click "Close" to finish.
